Obama

Yes, I saw that too D.J. Obama kept talking about unity too. He quoted someone (I don’t remember the name) saying “Unity is the great need of the hour.”

He also said that unity starts with changing the heart and mind. We see that he has a theme of unity and change.

Like D.J. said, Obama mentioned the story of Jericho. He kept saying that we need to be one voice like the Isrealites when they yelled after they heard the trumpet.

Something else he addressed was the fact that we are no longer men vs. women, or red vs. blue, but we are Christian’s vs. non Christians.

Obama

Hi everyone!

I just watched two of Obama’s videos about faith and politics.  He is very interesting.  I agree with both Brooke and Clara about Obama, he’s smart, careful with his words, and knows how to get people’s attention.  I also noticed when he was talking about Jericho in one of his speeches, he was saying stuff that wasn’t really in the Bible.

I think Obama is more like an every day ‘I’m good so I’m a “Christian”‘ rather than a true genuine believer.  (Shrug) what do you guys think?

I must admit, though, that i agree with the whole “change” thing he has going on.  I do think America needs to change, just not the way he wants to change it.  I think America needs to come back to God while Obama appears to think America needs to just stop fighting and work together.

What do you guys think?

Obama and his church

Yes, it is great!  Every time I talk about it I get more interested!  Yes, I did see that speech.  Like you said, he quotes scripture then says things that I don’t get.  He is a very convincing speaker though! I never replied to Sarah’s e-mail before, so this is what I think, I would love to hear what everyone else has to say.  I think Obama should have to bear the consequences in election for what his pastor said.  I do want to mention that some people do need some time to think about what God wants them to do. Because I don’t know exactly what Obama believes, it makes it a little harder to come to a complete conclusion, but if he disagrees with his pastor, he should have left before twenty years.  The reason I think it is ok that Obama is receiving criticism is because of his choice to stay at the church for so long.   It also depends on when Obama started hearing some of the remarks of his pastor that Obama is being criticized for.   I would have thought that if he disagreed with what the pastor was saying before fifteen years of going to that church, he should have left before five years later!

These are just some of my thoughts about the whole subject of Obama and his church.  I definitely believe that as soon as Obama started hearing some of his pastors’ remarks he should have left.  But now I have the question; what does Obama believe?  It just doesn’t make sense to stay at a church for so long and not believe what the pastor is saying.  Because I don’t know what Obama believes, it would make a difference on weather or not Obama should have to receive criticism or not.

If anyone has any thoughts about what I’ve said, or disagrees with what I’ve said, please let me know so I can think further about it.  Like I said before, this is my understanding of things, I am not completely convinced on anything yet, and I would like to hear what others have to say on this matter. Thank you for reading what I had to say.

Election ‘08

Isn’t this a great election cycle? I think it’s really interesting. Can you believe that  Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have both visited North Carolina? normally NC doesn’t even  help decide who will be the Presidential Nominee.

What did you  think of Barack Obama’s keynote speech? I think he was trying to appeal to everyone. he is such a great public speaker, besides being smart and clever, and he mixes truth and opinion so well, that you are persuaded by what he says. That’s why I decided to print his speech and read it instead of watching it, so I could gain an honest opinion.

He says he is a Christian, but I really can’t tell what he believes, one minute he says  something that completely goes against the bible, then he is quoting scripture! that kind of faith does not work.

Just some thoughts. What do you all think?
